The North East Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC) is revolutionising construction training, combining green, digital, modern, and traditional skills to develop a high-skilled workforce across the region.

As the North East CTEC, the college serves as a specialist hub for construction training, working with providers to raise industry standards, tackle skills shortages, and support economic growth. This includes widening opportunities for learners across the region by engaging employers and providing clear pathways into the construction industry, or higher-level qualifications.

At the heart of the CTEC is the Housing Innovation and Construction Skills Academy (HICSA), a pioneering facility based in the centre of the country’s most ambitious regeneration project.

Acting as a regional hub, the North East CTEC brings together further education colleges, universities, independent training organisations, schools, employers and key stakeholders to boost training, raise industry standards, address skills shortages, drive economic growth, and ensure that the North East is equipped to deliver the homes, infrastructure, and sustainable developments of the future.
