Dudley College of Technology

West Midlands

Dudley

Dudley College of Technology has been chosen to shape a West Midlands region wide approach to boost skills in all areas of construction including traditional trades such as Brickwork, Plumbing and Electrical as well as emerging skills need such as Solar PV Installation.

Building on the wide range of training programmes delivered from the college’s Construction Apprenticeship Training (CAT) Centre based in Brierley Hill and its Advance Centre in Dudley, the CTEC status will expand its training offer including Apprenticeships, T levels and short upskilling courses. The college will share its expertise with other Further Education, Higher Education and independent training providers in the region to increase capacity overall, in areas of skill shortage such as, building services engineering, retrofit and construction management.

Dudley College of Technology will work other partners in the skills system to co-design and increase delivery against these five objectives:

  • Boosting construction skills provision to local and national employer needs.
  • Delivering high-quality continuous professional development for staff.
  • Leveraging employer engagement and investment in construction skills provision.
  • Collaboration with other further education (FE) providers to boost construction provision and quality.
  • Identify clear pathways for learners to progress into employment or higher-level education.
